A large folding fan (called pericón in Spanish) with a guard 30 cm long is the most used type of fan for flamenco dancing. Although working with it is more demanding than with smaller fans, the larger size of the fan guarantees its good visibility on the stage. This accessory complements the movements of the dance and makes it look more eye-catching and spectacular. One of the typical dances with fan is, for example, the Guajira dance.

The fan is big but not heavy and is stable. Like other types of fans, it can be used, for instance, as a theater prop.
